Abstract

This study aims to find out the students level of reading comprehension skills of students in the English Language Education Study Program academic year of 2018/2019 at Sintuwu Maroso University Poso. The type of research used in this Study is descriptive qualitative. Qualitative method is a method that aims to describe or give an illustration of an object of research examined through samples or data that has been collected and made general conclusions. This research was conducted at the Sintuwu Maroso University Poso Faculty of Teacher Training and English Language Education Study Program which began in March until June 2019. The subjects of this study were 30 English students who were taken in second semester. This research was use used theory of Revised Blooms' Taxonomy with four levels of reading comprehension (Westwood, 2001; Smith, 1969). Based on the results of research obtained from observation, questionnaire and test the researcher found the most student level is the literal level with the number 21. Technique to collected the data give the test 40 question where in each question has different skills. The result of the data the students level of reading comprehension skills there are in three levels that is level literal, inferential and critical.
