The purpose of this study was to look at the application of snowball throwing techniques and see students' abilities in teaching speaking in the tenth grade at SMA Negeri 1 Lage in the 2017/2018 school year. The data source of the tenth grade is 22 students. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. In analyzing data techniques, using formulas from the Ministry of National Education. Conclusions are drawn through observations of teaching activities, and activities are categorized as good criteria. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of snowball throwing techniques is one of the best alternatives in teaching speaking. That's because the average value of students after teaching speaking using snowball throwing techniques is 78.22. That is categorized as a good criterion.
