Abstract

This study aims to determine the significant relationship between students' reading speed and reading comprehension. This study uses a quantitative approach. Researchers used two forms of data collection tests, namely reading speed tests and reading comprehension tests. The population of this study is the entire fourth semester of the Sintuwu Maroso University English Education Study Program for the 2020/2021 academic year. The sample of this research is 23 students. Data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment bivariate correlation through SPSS 20. The results of this study showed that there was no significant relationship between students' reading speed and reading comprehension. It is shown from the value of the r coefficient is -0.037 and also from the significant Pearson correlation figure of 0.868, where if the significant number is 0.05, it means that the correlation between the two variables is not significant. These results indicate that the null hypothesis is accepted and the alternative hypothesis is rejected.
