Abstract

This study aims to find out students’ motivation and in learning English in class XI students’ at SMKN 2 Ampana Kota. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach with a survey design. The instrument used is a questionnaire to measure students' motivation in learning English. The populations in this research were students’ of class XI, and the sample in this study was 18 students’ of class XI. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the average value of intrinsic motivation was 4.00 higher than extrinsic motivation of 3.54. So that the Alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and Null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In other words, students’ of SMKN 2 Ampana Kota have higher intrinsic motivation than extrinsic motivation.
