Abstract

Roads are land transportation infrastructure which are very important in facilitating economic relations and other social activities. However, if there is damage to the road, it will not only hamper other economic and social activities, but road accidents can occur. This research aims to determine the types of road damage, the factors causing it, as well as the percentage comparison of the cost of road damage with construction costs. The method uses is field research with primary data in the form of a survey of road damage on Kilo - Tiwa 'road section. The results of surveys shows that types of road damage on Kilo-Tiwa'a road section are holes, surface peeling, fine cracking, grain removal, and fillings. Common factors include an increase in traffic volume loads, poor drainage systems, soil conditions, climate, and very thin pavement planning. The cost to provide the Kilo-Tiwa'a road section is Rd. 8.304.136,00 and construction costs for 5 km flexible pavement is Rp. 6.275.479,00 and the cost of a flexible road surface layer is Rp. 4.817.741,00 and the percentage ratio of cost of road repairs to the cost of flexible pavement construction = 0.0013% and the ratio of the cost of road repairs to the cost of construction of the road surface flexure = 0.0017%.
